Current Air Quality & Forecast

Air Quality Forecast

May 13 – May 17: Early this week there is a weak low-pressure system aloft, with a high-pressure ridge just behind it. This combination deepens the marine layer and coastal stratus, bringing coastal drizzle on Monday and then afternoon clearing. The low temperatures on Monday will be in the 40’s; high temperatures at the coast will be in the 60s, inland in the 70’s and 80s, and up to the 90s in southern Monterey County. Beginning Tuesday and throughout the week expect similar conditions but a little milder, with lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s (coastal) and mid-80s (inland). Ozone air quality levels should remain GOOD. Onshore breezes will help keep air mixed, so AQIs for PM2.5 (smoke) will be generally GOOD with occasional periods of MODERATE readings in the valleys during late-night/early-morning hours. The AQI for PM10 (dust) should also remain GOOD.
